meeting, supervisor chairman E. P. Luke noted that the county had completed its reassessment at 100 percent fair market value one year before the state's deadline. Therefore, he said, the state department of taxation has ruled that implementation of the new assessment figures can be delayed until 1982. Luke proposed waiting to allow time to work out administrative details, including hearings by the equalization board which must be conducted before assessment figures are finalized and consideration of use value taxation.
"I don’t think we should rush the public on equalization." agreed H. B. Wood.
"It’s going to take a lot of arguing, discussing and cussing to get through this transition period.” Luke added.
According to the commissioner of revenue, it will cost an additional $900 for computer services this year if the new assessment figures are not used because the computer has already been programmed with the new values. In addition to feeding the old assessment data into
