Virginia where a County has Tiled a suit which in effect asks the Court to strike down its own ordinance.
Most disturbing of all is the fact that in the official court papers, which were not only signed, but acknowledged before a Notary Public by every member of the Board of Supervisors including Col. E. P. Luke, it is stated that (quote' “your Co-Petitioner Board of Supervisors is of the opinion that a ‘piecemeal' approach to the zoning process and to land use planning in general does not serve the public interest, and has therefore declined to enact amendments to the Ordinance.” pending a comprehensive review which is currently underway.
Despite this statement. Col. Luke, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, was quoted in last week's Rappahannock News as stating that although a comprehensive review of the Zoning Ordinance would take another eight to nine months. that certain amendments could be rushed thru the Planning Commission and Bpard of Supervisors within sixty days in order to benefit local garage owners who are presently op. rating in agricultural districts in violation of the Zoning Ordinance.
