ine u. a. environmental Protection Agency has issued an Order to comply and assessed a $25,000 penalty to Culpeper Wood Preservers for violations of hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

As part of the EPA enforcement action, the company was ordered to cease operation immediately of its chemical holding pond for hazardous waste from its wood preserving process in Culpeper. EPA became aware of the pond in early February, when more than 200.000 gallons of a copper

ACLD Meeting

Anne Fleming, third vice president of the international Association of Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities, will speak to the Blue Ridge Chapter of ACLD on Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in . the Administration Building of the Virginia Baptist Home in Culpeper.

Ms. Fleming’s address will concern strategies for prioritizing the goals of the local chapter which was formed in November of 1980.

The ACLD is the only international organization devoted to defining and finding solutions for Learning Disabilities, the "hidden handicap." A non-profit corporation, ACLD has affiliates in every state.

The Blue Ridge Chapter of the ACLD was organized to serve Culpepr, Fauquier, Orange, Madison, and Rappahannock counties. The chapter encourages all interested citizens, and especially parents, to attend the March 12 meeting.
