Uranium Forum

Potential impacts of the uranium mining industry on land and water resources will be discussed at a public meeting in Orange on March 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting, sponsored by the Piedmont Environmental Council, the Orange County Farm Bureau, the Madison County Farm Bureau and the Junior Women’s Club of Orange, will include slide presentations of actual mining and milling operations, presentations by experts and questions and answers from the audience. An opportunity for informal discussions will follow during refreshments.

The meeting will be held in the Orange County High School located north of Route 20 on Selma Road. For further information contact the Piedmont Environmental Council in Warrenton at 703347-2334.

Pageant

A Miss Rappahannock pageant is being sponsored by the Sperryville Rescue Squad and is scheduled for Friday. April 3 at the local elementary school. Registration is open for beauty pageant contestants from 4 years of age to high school seniors. Each young lady will be sponsored by a business firm of individual and her entry fee will be paid by the sponsor.
