What happened to Col. Luke's opposition to a "piecemeal approach" to the zoning process which he signed his name to the January 5. 1981? Why do these garage owners, whom Col. Luke states are operating illegally, deserve greater consideration than the law abiding citizens who have been forced to sue the County twice to enforce our rights under the Zoning Ordinance and to secure the peaceful use and enjoyment of our properties? Why doesn’t the Board of Supervisors have the guts to enforce their own ordinances and why is the Board of Supervisors willing to change the Ordinance to fit what the illegal garage owners are doing while it refuses to pass amendments that no one opposed during two public hearings? Why doesn’t the Board of Supervisors have the guts to come out and say that
a working family's right to peace and quiet and a decent night's sleep are protected by the Constitution and that camper hook-ups for fifty trailers, spotlights glaring, loudspeakers blaring and heavy traffic on a narrow secondary road until after midnight have absolutely nothing to do with freedom of religion.*
To me, this is the height of hypocrisy.
