Pittel has been singled out as one of the pioneers for his instrument, as well as one of the foremost classical saxophonists and woodwind virtuosi now appearing before the public. He is well known to many international conductors and has appeared with such masters as Pierre Boulez. Erich Leinsdorh. Seiji Ozawa and Michael Tilson Thomas. He has been soloist with such orchestras as the Boston Symphony. Los Angeles Philharmonic. Orchestra de la Suisse Romande. and the Loudon Sinfonietta.
He is well known as an educator, and has been associated with the University fof Southern California. Aspen. Tanglewood and others. This year he is with the Unjversity of Texas at Austin.
