Besides steadfast opposition to Reagonomics, and the high rate of unemployment, bankruptcy and general economic malaise it has produced, Gilliam cited Dick Davis’ support for a nuclear freeze and a return to fairness in economic policies—fairness to minoritygroups. including the elderly, blacks, Hispanics and women.
Proceeds from both events will go to support the campaigns of the candidates.

In observance of Columbus Day, October 11, county and state offices, U.S. post offices, the Rappahannock National Bank and Farmers and Merchants Bank will be closed.
Rappahannock's public schools will be open with early release at 2 p.m.
Most other county businesses, including the Rappahannock News, will maintain regular hours of operation.
