John Presley Mahoney. 66, of Gaithersburg, Md.. formerly of Chester Gap, died on Friday, October 1, 1982, at his residence.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at the Calvary Apostolic Church in Gaithersburg v, ith military services at Parklawn Cemetery.

Mr. Mahoney was born on August 8. 1916 in Rappahannock County, a son of Florence Mahoney and the late Harrison Mahoney. He was retired from the Montgomery Highway Department and was a veteran of World War II. In addition to his mother other survivors include his wife, Viola Mahoney; six sons, Billy Mahoney, Edward Mahoney, Presley Mahoney, Elwood Mahoney, Smitty Mahoney and Bobby Mahoney, all of Maryland and four daughters, Edna Tharpe of Winchester, Katherine Mahoney, f?ose Mahoney and Barbara Mahoney, all of Maryland. Also surviving are two brothers, James Mahoney of Chester Gap and Walter Mahoney of Bentonville; three sisters, Annie Walters of Bentonville, Mary North of Front Royal and Elizabeth Riley of Middletown; 41 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
