THE CONYERS HOUSE, home of Norman and Sandra Cartwright-Brown, is located in Slate Mills in the F.T. Valley.
The house was constructed in three separate parts: the old. the new. and the 1070 addition which the Cartwright-Browns built to accommodate the plumbing. The Cartwright-Browns share six rooms and a smaller house on the grounds w ith guests as an old fashioned "bed and breakfast" inn.
The Cartwright-Browns have furnished their guest rooms as well as their own living quarters with antiques and other country treasures. In the old kitchen, down in the cellar, pots are hung in the large fireplace surrounded by I V stone walls.
Interesting linens and china complete the cozy scene created by the antiques: a crocheted spread in “Grampie's room”, silk swag curtains in "Helen's room”: chintz draperies in the “child's room", linen draperies in the Hill house: collections of Staffordshire figurines, coalport china, bowls and pitchers.
The Conyers House is the third home on the House Tour sponsored by the Episcopal Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish. The tour begins at I 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. October 10: .and 1 p.m. Sunday October 17.
Also on the tour are Cumberland and Mt. Prospect II. Tour headquarters is at the parish hall, which is also the location of the dried flower sale.
