Confederates was a force of Union troops able to cross the bridge and drive the Georgians from the ridge. Dividing ourselves into “Yankees" and “Confederates" we re-enacted this daring battle of the bridge. With smoke bombs and firecrackers we managed some good sound effects, but unfortunately (and with typical 20th Centtiry disregard for civilians) nearly scared an elderly couple and their poodle dog to death. Returning home, tired but happy and satisfied, we were all glad. “Yankee" and "Confederate" alike, that we did not have to go through C.S.A. Customs after crossing the Potomac.
Our next battlefield tour will take us to Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. I would not miss it for the world.
