Agricultural projects have always been a good source of income for 4-H members as they develop techniques for profitable production of beef, sheep or swine, dairy cattle and poultry.
Still other 4-H'ers parlay their skills in photography to run portrait studios, or their cooking skills to sell specially decorated cakes or to develop small catering businesses.
Helping young people to become productive citizens in today's world is a major objective of the 4-H youth program, conducted by the Cooperative Extension Service and the U.S. Departtftent Of Afcrttulrure.
Support for these efforts comes from thousands of corporations, businesses, foundations and individuals who provide incentives for excellence and achievement in a broad range of 4-H projects. The private sector also is involved in helping 4-H'ers learn more about the world of work and career opportunities.
