Noted Jazzmen Perform
Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music is sponsoring a concert by the well known jazz ensemble. The Airmen of Note, on Thursday. October 14, at 8:30 p.m. in Armstrong Auditorium.
The United States Air Force official jazz ensemble has been acclaimed by music critics and musicians alike. Count Basie, one of the mam jazz greats who have appeared with the "Note." called the group “an absolute gas...one of the best I’ve heard.”
The “Note” has roots which go back to 1042 and t the late Major Glenn Miller’s pioneering efforts to give the troops the music they wanted to hear. The group portrayed the famed Miller orchestra in the movie. “The Glenn Miller Story." which starred Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson.
The concert at Shenandoah is free and open to the public. 1

The Red Shoes. Joseph Schmidt’s dramatization 1 of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale, is the fall Children's Theatre production at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music. ’
The play will be presented in theTheatre Studio on two successive weekends. October 30 and 31 and November 6 and 7. Saturday performances 1 are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 3 p.m.
