The children participated in many different areas such as swimming, woodworking, canoeing, tennis, crafts, firstaid. and sew ing.

Farm Show - July, 1982

Rappahannock children did very well at the Farm Show this year. Matthew Owings received the grand champion for his lamb, and Michael Owings received reserve champion. Timmy Falls received a first place in the swine division. All the children did well in their placings and the sale was very successful.

In-School Program - March 1982

The 4th grade participated in the in-school Share-the Fun Contest. All the children enjoyed getting up in front and performing for an audience. The act "Trouble in the Lunch Room" received a blue ribbon at the district contest.

The in-school programs this past year included the following topics:

Embryology - 4th and 5th grade

Electricity - 6th grade

Wildlife-Forestry - 4th and 5th grade

Soils - 5th grade

Share-the-Fun - 4th grade

What is 4-H? - 4th grade

Mulligan Stew - 3rd grade.

4-H members learn far more than specific skills of a project such as foodnutrition, animal science, forestry or gardening. They also learn to keep accurate records, make oral presentations and develop life-long management, consumer and communications skills.
