Kuhn reported that road abandonments have historically had a.detrimental effect on adjacent property values, according to real estate agents. And when property values drop, so does the county’s tax base, she noted.
She predicted that problems with trash dumping, trespassing and illegal hunting will increase in the Route 629 area if the road is abandoned. “Now both state and county police ride down that road regularly and everybody knows it,” she said, attributing the absence of violations to that law enforcement presence.
Maurice Biddle, Flint Hill attorney representing Zaidee Glodeck, another Route 629 landowner, said his client will also lose access to property if the road is abandoned. In addition, he noted that if the road is dropped from the
