Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taylor held a Halloween party at their home on Saturday. Among others, the McKays attended.
Ms. Betsy Jewell and Ms. Karen Ludwick, both of Castleton recently attended a UVa-VMl football game. After the game they watched the Cavaliers have a scrimmage basketball game with Ralph Sampson.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ellis' daughter was home recently from James Madison University, Harrisonburg.
Mr. and Mrs. John Shipman. Mark, Edward and Ryan of Maryland visited with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pawley at Sunset Cliffs, Rock Mills on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Hannon III recently moved from Rock Mills to Maryland.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hflmer of Castleton have an exchange student in their home. He is Patrick “Ricky” Abad and is from New Manila, Philippines. He is in the 11th grade at Rappahannock County High School.
The Mt. Lebanon and Woodville Baptist Church Sunday Schools held a combined Halloween party at the home of Captain and Mrs. Howard Holschuh Saturday night. A total of 90 youngsters and parents attended. Most arrived via a “hay ride" in a large truck. A host of scary illusions awaited, including: wolf calls and a flight of bats to welcome the guests, a skeleton dangling overhead, a huge serpent which waggled its head and red tongue as people passed by, a ghost who swooped down out of a tree onto the path below, and a giant spider in her nest. Dracula, Frankenstein, a werewolf, and a chainsaw man bounded out of the woods at various places as the guests made their way up the path to a big bonfire on top of the hill. There, a ghost story held them spellbound, and a shadow' play (mock operation) brought laughs to all. The evening ended with the unmasking of the scary apparitions, a short sermonette by both pastors, and refreshments for all.
