Lost Cattle
Thomas G. Eastham, landowner along Route 629 who requested the abandonment, reported that he'd lost eight calves in that area while another farmer in the vicinity had lost 14 head. Trash is left in the road, gates are taken off their hinges and vandals use the gate sites as public toilets, he added.
Supervisor H. B. Wood interjected that he’d originally understood all landowners along the road to be in favor of abandoning the entire .7 mile stretch. "Now I understand they’ve changed their minds."
