Rappahannock County owes a round of applause to the young people who participated in the Friendship Follies. The hometown kids joined Fauquier’s Young Dominion for a hectic day of rehearsals that culminated in one of the most enjoyable evenings of song and dance, comedy and patriotism presented on the elementary school stage.
From *) a.m. until curtain time 11 hours later, they worked on routines, costumes and props without a single cross word. There were no frowns, no arguments, no complaints. The youngsters were unfailingly polite, always cooperative, always smiling.
The kids share the credit for the success of Frienship Follies with the parents who donated time and energy to the undertaking and particularly with Bernice Pearson, the miracle worker who directs Fauquier’s 4-H performing arts group.
The lady is one of a kind and we wouldn’t blame the folks in Fauquier if they never let her past the county line. Fortunately for us. however, she’s eager to share the skills that developed a show case for talented young people next door.
