This ended in the second halt as halfback deBearn headed the ball in to tie the score at 1-1. The score stayed tied until the second five minute overtime period, when a penalty kick by Favre pushed the Owls to victory.
In the rematch on October 22, the Owls looked like a totally different team as they mutilated the RMA net for eleven goals. Wakefield, using a new format with a five man midfield line, kept the play on RMA's side most of the game. Left wing Ron Lewsader opened the scoring and from there on it was nothing but total Wakefield dominance. John O’Neill scored next with a blistering right foot shot into the left corner of the net. Right wing Todd Landis looped the ball over the goalies hands and it w as 3-0.
Landis struck again, taking a pass from Lewsader and trickled it over the line. O'Neill shot the score up to 5-0 with his 10th goal of the year.
And with no sign of retreat, the second half was as exciting on the first. This time it was the brothers Rowzie combining for five goals as older brother Russell tabbed three while younger brother David got two. The defense also should be commended, playing with a line of three fullbacks Joey Tisinger. Ronnie Stern. David Fawcett, and goalies Daniel Clark and Scott Favre who repeatedly turned RMA back.
