Judge Shore Robertson effectively ruled last week that Patricia Saltonstall may widen the right-of-way that serves her property and lots belonging to Roger and Diane Kidwell, ending — at least temporarily — the dispute that resulted in the death of Ranee Spellman in November, 1982.
Spellman, manager of Saltonstall’s Points of View Farm in Flint Hill, was operating a bulldozer on the right-of-way when he was shot by Diane Kidwell. Her first trial on murder charges ended in a hung jury; in the second, the jury found she had acted in self defense and was therefore not guilty.
