(ISS) remedies violations of school rules. In other schools students are practically rewarded with a vacation when they are suspended. But at Prospect Heights they are expected to report every day and go to the special ISS room located between the assistant principal’s office and the guidance office.

During ISS students are assigned to individual study booths. They are supervised by specially trained instructors who see that they do all assigned class work while they also receive counseling. ISS students are totally isolated from their classmates during the entire school day. They only see each other on the bus.

On a smaller scale, the “time-out booth” offers solitude for a student causing disruptions. The time-out is also spent near the guidance offices; counseling is always a step towards teaching the self-control that leads to self-discipline.
