Prospect Heights was the only middle school in the state and one of just 25 in the U S. to be chosen. It houses students in grades 68, with a total student body of approximately 800.
Lest local administrators think excellence is expensive, Prospect Heights Principal Paul N. Cogar welcomes any interested group to share his secrets of success. He says three Rappahannock teachers visited the nature trail last fall, but the full “cook’s tour” takes five hours. “These kids really believe they have the best middle school in the country,” he says. He likes to show off the home of the Yellow Jackets. He’s willing to spend any amount of time with anyone who cares about educational excellence.
