I keep reading or hearing about support or lack of support for the proposed Center for Innovative Technology, the Hi-Tech Center. I support the need for this Center. Virginia Research Institutions must compete with established Research Centers across the United States if we are to be able to provide meaningful employment to Virginians in future years. The proposed HiTech Centers would provide the focal point for the interaction of private enterprise and the academic research community. In the proposed Center, the research, making up the cutting edge of technology, would provide the foundation for the 21st century and beyond.
