The parent-teacher conferences which were scheduled for tonight have been postponed. High school principal Robert Chappell said makeup dates would be announced later.
Wanner weather is forecast for the Piedmont area, however. The National Weather Service said lows might go above freezing Tuesday night and highs into the upper 40s Wednesday. Douglas Bywaters noted temperatures climbed to 50 in the mountains early in the week and said he “couldn’t believe it.” Then he added, “Hope it comes here.”
Wingfield is optimistic. Based on extended forecasts he has seen. He expects some of the ice to disappear under warmer weather. Some precipitation could come on Saturday, probably in the form of rain—unless another cold front rolls over the county, the weather watcher said.
