Training Center in January, 1984. TTiis was endorsed by resolution from the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors in the later part of 1983. Without the regional training status, fire and rescue services in Rappahannock cannot qualify for any state grant funds. The county’s Fire and Rescue Association has been awarded two grants: one in 1980 for $5,000 to replace the roof on Amissville’s smoke training building and the second in 1964 for $5,000 to begin construction of a fire training tower. Without these funds, it would be highly unlikely that we would have any type of training facility here.
