Arthur W. Arundel of The Plains has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the 7th Congressional District.

Arundel, publisher of The Rappahannock News and four other newspapers in the Piedmont region, cited his “overriding public commitment to Great Meadow,” a new 600-acre nonprofit turf and field events center under construction in Fauquier County, as the reason for his decision.
