Mr. Phil Irwin of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection stated he had seen a similar tower at Blue Plains where Washington, D.C., firefighters train. The training tower he is speaking of is on the Maryland side of Washington, D.C. He asked for the location of the nearest facility where Rappahannock firefighters could receive this type of training. To be specific in answering there is no such training tower now located within the fivecounty Planning District. The nearest are in Fairfax, the city of Winchester, the city of Fredericksburg and the city of Harrisonburg.
