There just isn’t anything available for young people to get started,” she says pointing to teachers who move to the community or young people who grow up here and want to set up housekeeping on their own. “People are limited by their budgets with their first house. They can’t spend $30,000440,000 for five acres plus a house. That’s too much.”
If there is an increase in sales in the villages, Clark thinks it’s because the smaller parcels of land suit smaller budgets better. The move to the villages is more a matter of finances than fashion, she believes.
Clark also believes there’s a lack of low income housing in the county. “The government should be more concerned about it,” she says. “We need small tracts.”
