RDA’s And Nutrition

Nutrition-conscious grocery shoppers often read product labels to determine the RDA’s (recommended dietary allowances) of various nutrients in the food they buy. What consumers see listed on food labels are the USRDA (U.S. recommended dietary allowances) that are set for the highest RDA’s for all the different sex and age groups in the U.S. This means that a person who is in an age, sex, -'body size or physiological state group requiring a lower amount of RDA’s is receiving a higher percentage of nutrients than are stated on the food labels.

The best way to make sure a person is getting all the essential nutrients is to eat a balanced diet. Select foods from the four nugor food groups - meat, poultry, and fish; breads and cereals; fruits and vegetables; and dairy products each day.
