Rappahannock High School senior James R. Dennis has been designated a “commended student” in the 1985 National Merit Scholarship program, RCHS Principal Robert Chappell announced earlier this month.
Dennis placed in the top five percent of more than one million participants in the 30th annual competition. As part of the honor, Dennis will receive a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) of Princeton, N.J.
Participants entered the current merit program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in the fall of 1983, when most students participating were beginning their junior year.
