Speaking in regard to jobs and the proposed zoning ordinance, Newbill Miller, chairman of the subcommittee to draft the ordinance, said the proposed ordinance would “welcome with open arms" new and responsible industry. The cruelest thing the planners could do, he cautioned, would be to recommend a document that would not be effective.
More Education Needed
Still, a major concern among many at the meeting was what little people generally knew about the proposed zoning ordinance. Col. White suggested adding educational meetings around the county, not by district, but rather by subject, such .as “churches,” “home occupations,” or “minimum lot sizes.”
