Yard Sale To Benefit Firemen The Amissville Firemen and Ladies Auxiliary will have a yard sale on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. There will be pumpkins, apples, hamburgers, hot dogs, pies and cakes. The event will be held at Amissville fire hall on Route 211.

4-H Achievement Night 4-H Achievement Night program will be held on October 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School cafeteria. All 4H’ers and parents are invited. “Come and bring a covered dish to share with everyone,” said a spokesperson.

Pumpkin Carving Contest The 5th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest will take place at The Clopton House, home of Eileen M. Day Realtors, on Halloween evening, Oct. 31. Pumpkin carving begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Cider, prizes and donuts also will add to the festivities. For more information, call 675-3400.

RPAC Meeting Oct. 29 Rappahannock Public Action Committee (RPAC) will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 29, at the courthouse in Washington at 7:30 p.m. Meetings normally are held the fourth Monday of each month; however, due to the district meeting in Flint Hill last Monday, this meeting was postponed. It’s rated R, 90 minutes long and is in Spanish with sub-titles.

Trip To Atlantic City Fauquier County Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a trip by chartered bus to Atlantic City, New Jersey on Wednesday, November 14. The bus will leave from Fauquier High School at 6 a.m. and will drop participants at the casino at approximately 10 a.m. Participants will be on their own until meeting the bus for the return trip, arriving back at Fauquier High approximately 10:30 p.m. Cost of the trip is $20 per person. Registration is limited to the first 45 adults to register and pay at the Parks and Recreation Office, 14 Main Street, Wairenton.

Harvest Dinner Planned At Sperry viDe The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be having a Harvest Dinner on Saturday, November 3, at the fire hall. The menu consists of roast turkey with the trimmings, a variety of vegetables and desserts, rolls, butter and beverages, all for the price of $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. Carry out dinners will be available from 4:30 p.m. till 5:15 p.m. with dinner served at the fire hall from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale by members of the auxiliary and can also be purchased at the door.
