Halloween Party Planned
A Halloween party will be held at the Sperryville United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 31 from 7 to 8 p.m. There will be games, treats and a costume contest. The public is invited.
Longwood Gardens Trip Scheduled
Fauquier County Parks and Recreation has scheduled a trip by chartered bus to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 10. The bus will leave Fauquier High School at 7:30 a.m. Mid will return to Fauquier High at approximately 7:30 p.m. Cost of the trip is $17 per person. Virginia Hunter Safety Course Offered
Lord Fairfax Community College will sponsor the Virginia Hunter Safety and Conservation Course. This course, designed for those people interested in the out-of-doors hunting, shooting and firearm safety will cover topics including Safe Hunting Methods, Firearm Safety, Conservation, Bowhunting, Black-powder Hunting, First Aid and Survival Techniques. The instructors for the course are certified by the Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries.
The course will be held at the college on Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1 from 6:30 until 0:30 p.m. There is no charge for the course. For further information or to register call the Office of Continuing Education and Community Services at 860-1120, ext. 228.
“People Thai Love Center” Open
“People That Love Center” under the direction of Sally Dunphy is open each Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center is located in the old school building on Mt. Salem Avenue, Route 626 off Route 211 in Washington.
The program is designed to offer food, clothing, furniture or other emergency assistance to those in need. For further information phone 987-8505.
