Are people aware that the proposed (Big Brotherish) 1964 Zoning Ordinance prohibits the use of private property for anything and everything other than what has been outlined in the draft plan? And even then there are severe restrictions and requirements for what it does allow. The Zoneoids want complete control over all land use in Rappahannock County. They want you to crane begging with hat in hand fra* permission to use your own property. They will decide what you will or will not do with your own place.
This is not just an issue of barbed wire and church control-bones which they ana Willing to toss back to us as long as they get to keep the meat. Ib^ an attack upon the family—an institiition strongly based in the free u£ of private property, which is the location of the home and an economic base for self-sufficiency. It is an attack against ways of life which are traditional here in the county. (For example, many residents, for several generations, have kept worn out cars on their land as a factor in family economic survival and just plain goof thrift. Why throw the old cars away, or let a.junk man get them for practically nothing and then turn around and sell you back the parts for a sky high price? Why not use the parts yourself or sell them or barter them with neighbors? Then everybody benefits. The old car bodies are great for storing things in, and people even use them for meat smokers and food dryers and more. . . A sub-culture has been built around them. Many a kid has turned into a great back yard mechanic (a trade the Zoneoids would take away) getting his first car out of the field and on-the-road legal. These guys help keep repair bills down, and well no doubt need them around when and if the Reaganomics Recovery bubble bursts.
Where do the Zoneoids get the right to mess with people’s lives like this anyway? Their plan lets you have two at the most—any others have to be kept under a structure “out of the weather.”
