He noted that, according to Rappahannock’s comprehensive plan, population will increase at a rate of 1.2 percent annually to 7,200 people by the year 2000. Kid well suggested tabling the proposed ordinance, calling it “inappropriate for the county at this time.”
Wakefield resident Wit Kuncewicz also called for county planners to work again to revise the ’73 Ordinance. Kuncewicz, who said he supported early zoning ordinance in the county, likened the proposed zoning ordinance to a stuck rudder on a ship. “It’s going in one direction mindless of people,” he said.
Kuncewicz said the planners should stop, go back to the ”73 Ordinance and see where it can be liberalized so young people can find work. Employment opportunities to keep youth in the county should be the goal of the zoning ordinance, he said.
