pahannock Public Action Committee (RPAC), of which he is a steering committee member, now has 988 “audited” signatures of residents who want to table the proposed zoning ordinance.
Other residents, however, emphasized moving forward with the proposed zoning ordinance. Robert Dennis argued that the Planning Commission shad tried to revise the ’73 Zoning Ordinance “piece by piece.” The effort failed, he said, because “each piece fits together.”
Dennis compared the present zoning ordinance with the proposed. “I believe that the new ordinance deals better (with specifics) than the old,” he said. “The old ordinance leaves far more descretion with the staff in the county.”
Wakefield residents speaking either for or against the proposed zoning ordinance seesawed. By the end of the meeting, three residents said they supported the proposed ordinance; three other residents called for sticking with the current ordinance.
Roger Kidwell called the proposed zoning ordinance too lengthy, too complicated and too similar to the zoning ordinance of Fauquier County.
