Employment Data
The Culpeper Virginia Employment Commission has released its employment figures for March. In Rappahannock, of the 2,606 people in the civilian labor force, 2,481 were employed in March. That places the unemployment figure at 125 people or 4.8 percent.
The March figures do not reflect any significant change in the labor force. Initial figures for the number of employed rose slightly due to seasonal increases in construction, trades and agriculture.
• Graduation Time Changed
In an effort to try to beat the excessive late afternoon heat build-up in the RCHS gym, RCHS Principal Robert Chappell has announced that this year’s graduation will be held in the morning instead. The graduation ceremonies will be held in the RCHS gym at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.
The Baccalaureate Service will be held in the RCHS gym on Sunday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m.
• Community Concerts
There will be a van available to transport any person wishing to attend events during the 1985-86 Community Concerts season for a fee of $3 per person. The van will pick up riders anywhere in the county.
People interested in riding the van should call Dee Brents at 9878646 or Frances Lyne at 987-8588.
A Community Concerts subscription will entitle the holder to attend a number of events during the season including a pianist concert on November 11, the Singing Voices of Pennsylvania on February 15 and the Max Marathon Quintet on April 6, 1986. The subscriber may also attend other events in Fairfax and Manassas.
A family membership costs $36, an adult membership is $15, $6 buys a student membership, a single head of family membership costs $21 and a patron membership is $50. Prices for the memberships will increase on June 1.
