I think it is interesting that at this hearing, testimonies related to teachers, their hard work and commitment to their best, their marginal pay status when compared to other college degreed professionals and the private sector, their gratitude for the $1.5 million dollar commitment the residents have or are about to make at the high school, their love for Rappahannock County with its unique quality of life, presently, and finally, that they want to stay with us IF we can increase their salaries to a more professional level. With all of this I agree 100 percent. As a matter of fact, I agree so wholeheartedly that I threw that drowning fella that 300 pound boulder. I made the most realistic suggestion I can see happening justifiably, today. You all treated me like an ass the other night, now I want to know what the folks at home think....
Many moons ago as a school board member, I called Mr. Estabrook back on the phone, again, a month or so after he had turned us down, and rekindled his interest in our position for a superintendent. I did this because I felt he stood out above the other candidates. Now, with expectations of an answer, I’m going to test his metal and ask him in this open media, how can we do better with less?
