Mre. Ethel Butler Johnson, 83, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, July 9 at Huntly.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday at Williams Chapel CME Church in Front Royal by the Rev. William Hobbs. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 22, 1902, at Browntown, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Butter. She was married to the late Robert Johnson and was a member of the Eastern Star Mary Magdalene Chapter 208 and the American Legion Post 174 Auxiliary.
She was superintendent of the Sunday School of the Williams Chapel CME Church and was the church’s missionary circle secretary.
Survivors include her sister, Mollie Douglas of Front Royal.
Pallbeares were Wilbur Townley, John Jaclmon, Pete Sloan, Henry J. Owens, Cornelius Carter and Maurice Russell . ' -
Arrangements were handled by Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal.
Florence Rickard

Mrs. Florence Naomi Rickard, 66, of Bentonville, died Wednesday, July 10 at her residence.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Burial was in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery near Timberville.
Mrs. Rickard was born February 16,1919, near Timberville, daughter of the late Jacob E. and Lydia A. Whitmer Wilt. She was a seamstress at the Blue Bell Corporation and was a member of the Limeton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Lorenzo “Pete” Rickard; a son, Roger Rickard of Woodbridge; two daughters, Louise Foster of Washington, Va. and Betty Jo Waltman of Richardson, Texas; a sister, Nettie Day of New Market; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
