Horton planted the seed for a restaurant, though, when he began selling food out of a trailer beside the garage. Soon the trailer was scrapped and the

garage was converted into a restaurant - 1 he Hampton Inn.

When Millie bought it in 1978 she owned two other restaurants, one in Manassas, another in Fredericksburg. She sold those because a thriving business at the Hampton Inn was all she could handle.

Business is still thriving today, according to both Millie and Elsie. How good is business? It is so good that Elsie was not the least bit concerned about the faulty Hampton Inn sign. Only two letters on the sign light up at night: the a and u in restaurant.
