horses right away, there had been a Fordson on the place years before, and I have one very distinct memory of a John Deere model “B” which had to be started by spinning a huge external flywheel by hand. Dave, the farm-hand who could get the old thing started, never learned to drive it. And it seemed that none of those who could drive it could ever start it.
