Frank and Doris Donald just returned from Los Angeles, California, where they had a wonderful time at the 15th Congress of the Baptist World Alliance. Representatives of 92 countries in their native costumes answered the Roll Call of nations. Mayor Bradley of Los Angeles gave a speech as well as former President Jimmy Carter and Evangelist Billy Graham. The Donalds were so happy to see Pastor John Farrar and his wife from Culpeper. Pastor Farrar is retired from the Culpeper Baptist Church.

Frank and Doris stayed in a lovely tropical motel in downtown L.A. so they could walk to the daily meetings, although the pavement was extremely hot to walk on. The temperature stayed around 107 degrees which was a bit warm indeed! They visited the Danish city of Solvang which is up the California coast and saw some of the fires that have been raging in the state.

The Donalds visited their son and wife, Bobby and Pat Donald, and their daughter and her husband, Eleanor and Ray Douglas, all of whom live in Camarillo. They also enjoyed the company of their grandchildren and believe it or not, great-grandchildren! What a splendid time they had!

Frank and Doris happily came back to Rappahannock to their plush garden which needed immediate picking and to sweltering temperatures. Whew!

Roy Lee Knighting wants to report that he’s hot as-!

Yes Roy, we know what you mean! It’s like a steam room outside on these sticky July days.
