Southern Reflections
The first lecture in the Library’s Southern Reflections book discussion series will take place Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Library. Dr. Edward Ayers of the University of Virginia will speak on the Southern literary renaissance and the significance of the four boolp chosen for the series. Moscow on the Hudson stars Robin Williams, Cleavant Derricks, and Maria Conchita Alonso.
This is a wonderful comedy from Paul Mazurky about the defection of a Russian circus musician who chooses Bloomingdale’s as the scene of his defection. Mazurky’s imaginative use of peripheral characters and Williams’ non-stop energy and dramatic/comic talent keep this mellow film moving along comically but always staying in touch with the tragedy of leaving one’s homeland forever.
The movie is rated PG.
1986 Wheat and Feed Grain Program
Sign-up for the 1986 Wheat and Feed Grain Program will be held March 3 through April 11.
The program includes acreage reduction of 20 percent for feed grain and 25 percent for wheat. Included in the reduction is a 2Vz percent paid land diversion.

Forestry meeting scheduled
Managing Hardwood for Fun and Profit will be the theme of a two-day meeting to be held at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria on February 27 and 28.
This meeting, sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service, School of Forestry and Wildlife Resources, VPI&SU, and the Virginia Division of Forestry in cooperation with various state, federal and private organizations, will bring together resource speakers from Virginia and West Virginia. -Each will address some aspect of hardwood forest management, growth, silviculture, protection or investment.
Those wishing to register and reserve space for this meeting should contact the Extension Agent or the Virginia Division of Forestry office in the county where they reside. Registration fee, to include program materials, snacks and four meals, is $40.
Anniversary celebration
The 26th district council Order of the Eastern Star’s P.H.A. will celebrate their 18th anniversary at the Quality Inn in Front Royal on March 22 at noon. Guest speaker will be past master, Robert G. Davis of Clifton Forge. Admission is $15. Rachael Aylor is chairperson.

The Amissville Extension Homemakers Club will meet on Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Amissville Baptist Church.
Woodville Extension Homemakers Club will meet on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Woodville Baptist Church. The Washington Club will also meet on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Marie Davis. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.

Historical Society meeting
The winter meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society will be held at the Rappahannock County Courthouse Friday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. Spencer DeJamette, of Culpeper, will speak on Indians, the early inhabitants of Rappahannock County.
