A proposal to drastically reduce the personal property tax for aircraft flight simulators, which passed the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday. Del. Robert T. Andrews (R-Fairfax/Loudoun) introduced the bill for Loudoun County, which wants to reduce the tax to a penny per $100 of assessed value so it can attract a pilot training company to Washington Dulles International Airport.
• A proposal to require infant flood tests for biotinidase syndrome, a nutritional deficiency that can lead to death in infants and young children if not treated. Del. Kenneth R. Plum (R-Reston) introduced the bill, which passed Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday.
Gaol to get $25,000
The 1986-88 budget apparently will include at least $25,000 for the restoration of the Old Gaol in Warrenton.
The House version of the budget includes $50,000 for the project, less than half of the total restoration cost, and the Senate version includes $25,000. The difference will be resolved in conference committee.
Alternative to bottle bill?
When the Senate approved its version of the 198688 budget last week, it included a proposal by Sen. William A. Truban (R-Woodstock) to study use of prison labor to pick up and recycle roadside litter.
Truban, who represents Clarke and part of Fauquier, made the proposal as an alternative to legislation requiring returnable bottles, the infamous bottle bill, which Sen. Truban opposed again this year.
