mail dies

Henry Lee Wooten of Sperryville was killed Saturday when he lost control of his car and slammed into another vehicle on Route 522 near the intersection of Route 621 West near Woodville. A child who was a passenger in Mr. Wooten’s car has been transferred to the University of Virginia Hospital where he is listed in serious condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
According to Trooper Chuck Moore who was at the scene of the accident, Mr. Wooten was northbound on Route 522 when he lost control of his 1975 Datsun and hit a 1982 Cadillac, operated by Dr. Prospero Cruz Roda of Tappahannock. Mr. Wooten apparently lost control of his vehicle due to poor road conditions resulting from a snowstorm.
Trooper Moore stated that both vehicles were “totalled by the accident.”
According to the officer, Henry Lee Wooten Was “exceeding a safe speed” when he lost control of his rear-wheel drive vehicle which bounced into the driver’s side of the approaching vehicle. “His car bounced off the Cadillac and travelled several feet,” said Trooper Moore. „ .. .
