Rappahannock County farmers interested in participating in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) are urged to attend an educational meeting Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Courthouse. Farmers will be provided with details and options of the newly-announced federal program designed to take highly erodible cropland out of production.
Land that enters the program will be ineligible for farming for 10 years and must instead be planted into perennial grass, wildlife plantings, windbreaks or trees.
