A group of four Wakefield students participated in the Math Counts Contest held at Lord Fairfax Community College last weekend. The team ranked second in the contest which is the first nationwide math contest for junior-high school students.

The competiton began with an jn• dividual test that lasted 40 minutes and consisted of 40 problems that were designed so only the most cai pable students would be able to finish: In the second round, also an individual t^st, the students completed a group of 10 problems in 20 minutes.
