Author and television commentator James J. Kilpatrick will discuss “The Writer’s Art” on Wednesday, April 30, at 8 p.m. at Madison County High School. Friends of the Madison County Library sponsors the event, and all proceeds will benefit the library.
Tickets at $5 for adults and $2 for students are available at the library or by calling 948-4068 or 923-4412. Mr. Kilpatrick is donating his service.
Mr. Kilpatrick, whose home is in Rappahannock County, is the nation’s most widely syndicated columnist and is a panelist on Agronsky & Company, Washington-based political talk show. His columns are devoted to commentary on national issues and include one each week on the use and abuse of the English language.
His books include The Foxes’ Union, a series of essays on aspects of life in the Blue Ridge. With his neighbor, former Senator Eugene McCarthy, he wrote A Political Bestiary. Two other books, with photographer William Bake, are on the nature of the South.
His most recent book, which has the same title as his lecture in Madison, is The Writer’s Art.
