chardonnay 9 n., the finest of all of the white wine grapes. Responsible for almost all of the great white burgundies of France including Chablis and Montrachet it is grown in several European wine producing states and in the United States, especially California. It produces wines noted for their rich, toasty bouquets and lush, complex flavours. It produces one of the few white wines that benefit from oak cooperage and it is known to improve with age in the bottle. The wine selection at Tuscarora Mill includes many excellant Chardonnays and this week we are featuring several of them by the glass or the taste from our “Wine Bar” including the Chalone vineyards 1984 arid a Meursaults from the estate of Able Gamier.
