Proceeds from the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad’s annual fund raising dinner this Friday night, April 25, will go towards providing life saving services to the community.
“By joining us at the fire hall for dinner, people can eiyoy a delicious nr «al and afe the.same time support our emergency services program,” said Peggy Wobdward; organizer of the event.
“What would you do if your house caught on fire or if a brush fire threatened your home?” asked VFD president Phillip Strange. “You’d call the fire department. And if you or someone in your family needed emergency care and immediate transportation to a hospital, you’d call the rescue squad. They answer your calls for help; now you’re being asked to answer theirs,” he said, inviting the residents of the Castleton area and beyond to Friday’s dinner.
This year’s fund raising effort is especially important as the fire department and rescue squad are planning an addition to their building to house equipment and provide an area for community activities. Also in conjunction with the fund raising, a membership drive is underway.
“We need man-power and woman-power to continue the upgrading of our community and services,” said Chief John H. Woodward. “We’re looking for folks who can drive a truck, wash a window, bake a cake, pound a nail or wash a dish.”
