A good friend is gone and I shall miss her as I am sure many others in the community will. “Flossie” Williamson was a gentle, gracious lady with much zest for living, and it is hard to realize she is gone.
She was always doing something for someone — sharing her knowledge of herbs with garden clubs, individuals, young folks starting in ‘ business. Not only did she share her knowledge, but she shared her produce as well. Even though we live in Culpeper, she came by several times a year, bringing “cress” greens for my husband, Italian tomatoes and herbs for my tomato sauce, or potted herb plants. It always brightened up our day and that of my crippled son to have a visit from “Flossie.” She was always especially kind to him, - and usually included something special “for John.” , Her interest in nutrition gave us a common bond, and she studied that subject constantly. Knowing that I am a registered dietitian, she frequently called for information for herself or for her friends. She deplored the fact that some of them didn’t eat breakfast, or had other “bad” habits, and was constantly trying to get them to improve their eating habits.
